E-learning roll-out within the Customs administration of Madagascar

A workshop for the roll-out of the WCO e-learning programme was held from 21 to 24 September 2009 in the headquarters of the Customs administration of Madagascar. The purpose of this workshop was to install the WCO e-learning programme on the administration’s computer infrastructure, as well as to train the staff to its use and to prepare for the next stages of the roll-out.
The training system roll-out will start with an initial pilot phase that will address two distinct target audiences: the current promotion of inspectors for their initial training and a selection of officials within the scope of their ongoing training. The online courses will then be used in tandem with the conventional training methods usually applied. According to the outcomes of the pilot training, access should subsequently be extended to all Madagascan officials, who will benefit from independent access to the programme, tailored to the national characteristics by local teams of trainers and the experts should the need arise.
