Sound advice is often required prior to using rules of origin. In the event of doubt as to the origin, it is best not to request a preferential procedure. Is the origin disputed? Does the certificate of origin contain inconsistencies? What procedure should be followed in the event of a dispute? What decisions can be challenged? Can the importer demonstrate good faith?

SESSION 5 : Origin and new information technologies

11:30 - 12:00

New computing tools have recently been developed to ensure more effective use of preferential rules of origin. Prior to using the preferential rules, an analysis can now be carried out as to the best product sourcing based on the applied Customs duties. One can also determine whether a product is eligible for a preferential procedure. Certificates of origin can also be drawn up electronically. Is this procedure reliable? How does it work?
