Capacity building was one of the main topics during the WCO Policy Commission meeting in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Director of Capacity Building, Mr. Lars Karlsson, made a presentation on the key mechanisms for implementation identified during the programme and progress within the capacity building area. 45 countries have entered the implementation phase of the programme and the Director presented the results of the programme from two of the pilot countries in the Central Asian region, namely Kazakhstan and Mongolia. Both these countries have been pioneers within the Columbus programme and there are amazing results within a numerous of fields in both countries. The meeting was very well organized by the Kazakhstan Customs Control Committee.
