WCO Contributes to OSCE Agenda on Regional Economic Connectivity

At the invitation of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat the WCO participated in the OSCE Regional Seminar “Towards Regional Economic Connectivity – National Mechanisms for Trade and Transport Facilitations” held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in May 20-22, 2019.

The seminar participants from the five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan), as well as Afghanistan and Azerbaijan shared their national practices in the area of trade facilitation and effective customs reforms supporting the development of the regional trade and transit capacity.

The WCO together with other international organizations and with an active participation of the respective national transport and customs administrations provided a set of recommendations in the area of trade and transport facilitation from the regional perspective. The recommendations also addressed the critical issues of digitalized customs and transit facilitation.
