RECOMMENDATION OF THE CUSTOMS CO-OPERATION COUNCIL
ON THE TEMPORARY ADMISSION
OF RADIO AND TELEVISION VANS
(9th JUNE 1977)

THE CUSTOMS CO-OPERATION COUNCIL,

CONSIDERING that, in general, its Members accord temporary admission facilities to vehicles and equipment used to record radio or television material for use outside their territories or to transmit such material to stations abroad,

CONSIDERING that it is desirable to simplify Customs formalities with a view to facilitating the circulation of these vehicles and their equipment,

HAVING REGARD, moreover, to the fact that such vehicles and their equipment are covered by Annex A to the Customs Convention on the temporary importation of professional equipment, done at Brussels on 8 June 1961, and that ATA carnets can be used for their temporary admission,

RECOMMENDS that Members of the Council and members of the United Nations Organization or its specialized agencies, and Customs or Economic Unions should not require temporary admission documents or security in respect of radio and television vans and their equipment and where necessary for the purposes of Customs control should be content with the production of a list or detailed inventory of such equipment,

RECOMMENDS that Members of the Council and members of the United Nations Organization or its specialized agencies, and Customs or Economic Unions which are not in a position to accept the above provisions :

(a) if they still require temporary admission documents in respect of touring vehicles, should allow the temporary admission of radio and television vans and their equipment under cover of the same documents as are used for the temporary admission of touring vehicles;

(b) if they do not require temporary admission documents in respect of touring vehicles but still require them for radio and television vans and their equipment, should accept for this purpose the ATA carnets introduced by the Customs Convention of 6 June 1961 on the ATA carnet for the temporary admission of goods,

REQUESTS Members of the Council and members of the United Nations Organization or its specialized agencies, and Customs or Economic Unions which accept this Recommendation to notify the Secretary General of the Council of the date from which they will apply the Recommendation and of the conditions of its application. The Secretary General will transmit this information to the Customs administrations of all Members of the Council. He will also transmit it to the Customs administrations of the Members of the United Nations Organization or its specialized agencies and to Customs or Economic Unions which have accepted this Recommendation.
