The purpose of this Regional Congress is to:

• Report on the barriers and progress in Romania and in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia regions in combating counterfeiting and piracy, specifically in the areas of awareness raising and regional cooperation;
• Identify anti-counterfeit actions that can be taken in the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia;
• Promote cooperation, good practice and the sharing of information among and between the enforcement agencies, the judiciary, policy-makers and the private sector in the Eastern Europe/Central Asia regions;

• Raise awareness of the serious impact of counterfeiting and piracy on the health and safety of consumers, the growth or organized crime and corruption, government revenues and the underground economy.
