Every top-level sports event generates a significant flow of counterfeit goods. This is the perfect time for criminal organizations, and especially those which specialize in counterfeiting, to step up their illicit activities and send their profits sky-rocketing. This seminar organized jointly by the World Customs Organization, the European Commission and the Federation of the European Sports goods Industry (FESI), will bring together operational Customs services from all over the world which have already mobilized around this issue, sports equipment manufacturing rights holders, and their national and international associations. Its purpose is to familiarize Customs services with the official, licensed “World Cup 2006” products and give them an opportunity to refine their risk analysis criteria for control purposes. |
| Venue & Target Audience: | This seminar occured at WCO Headquarters and was open to Customs administrations - with the focus on the operational services, as well as representatives of rights holders’ national and international associations, and sports equipment manufacturers. |
