Forum Objectives

Intelligence-driven risk management is one of the cornerstones of the “Customs in the 21^st Century” strategy forming the basis of WCO’s forward thinking. Risk based operating models enable Customs administrations to allocate resources effectively and efficiently to their business operations while enabling the focus on areas posing highest risk to customs compliance. Therefore, risk management allows Customs administrations to better achieve the dual goal of enhanced compliance and security whilst maximizing facilitation benefits and opportunities. In the era of declining resources, risk management is one of the key enablers for Customs administrations to meet the continuously growing governmental and societal expectations placed on them.

The major objectives of the Forum are

· Identify and analyze the key concepts of Customs Risk Management

· Discuss the role of intelligence in managing risks

· Exchange experiences and good practices in managing risks

· Outline the need for building risk management related capacity

· Forge new partnerships and provide a platform for dialogue and cooperation between the WCO Members as well as the WCO Members and other key stakeholders in the sphere of risk management
