Sustaining the Leadership and Management Development efforts of Qatar Customs Authority

The organizational effort in developing the leadership and management skills of Qatar Customs Authority managers has been sustained again this year through the organization of the second Leadership and management development workshop. The event which was entirely self-funded by Qatar Customs was held in Doha, Qatar from April 19 to 30, 2015 with the participation of 14 middle and senior managers from headquarters, seaport and airport Customs directorates.

In an objective to provide participants with the tools needed to use their knowledge to effect change in practice through effective management and leadership, the workshop focused on the development of a number of key management practices and leadership qualities that are essential to the modern and effective Customs manager. Participants explored, during the workshop, various management-related topics, such as strategic management, visioning, communication, change management, negotiations, people management and the promotion of integrity in the workplace.

Based on the feedback received from participants, the senior management of QCA agreed that the LMD workshop would continue to form an integral part of the initiative for developing leadership and management skills of middle and senior managers in the future.
