Harmonized System 2007
The Harmonized System in brief
The Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (popularly known as the Harmonized System or the HS) is responsible for regulating approximately 98% of all goods traded globally and is used by more than 200 countries and Customs or Economic Unions across the globe. Governments and businesses alike use the HS as a unique way of identifying and coding merchandise. Goods must be able to move freely to meet the delivery schedules imposed by modern trade requirements. Common use of the HS both facilitates trade and favours seamless end-to-end international trade transactions. It is an essential business tool and responsive to business needs.
