Not to be missed!

The WCO and its Regional Training Centres

Forming virtually independent and autonomous entities, the regions themselves are best placed to identify and respond to their Members’ training needs. This type of training, which is broader in scope than that offered to individual countries, makes it possible to pool and optimize resources within a single region.

The principle of regional training offers a number of advantages.  In particular, it forges links between Customs officials from neighbouring countries and ensures more effective follow-up of WCO programmes.

To date, sixteen Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) establishing Regional Training Centres have been concluded by the WCO and the Customs administrations of Azerbaijan, Burkina Faso, Brazil, China, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Hungary, India, Japan, Kenya, Lebanon, Malaysia, the Russian Federation, South Africa, Hong Kong China and Zimbabwe.
