Visit of the new ICC Secretary General to the WCO

25 November 2009

Report

The Secretary General of the WCO, Kunio Mikuriya, received the new International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Secretary General, Jean Rozwadowski, at the WCO on 25 November 2009, in order to reinforce the partnership between both organizations.

Mr. Rozwadowski underscored his wish to work more closely with the WCO in areas of common interest such as trade facilitation, the fight against counterfeiting, the Customs-business partnership, and the approach of the ICC and the WCO to G8 and G20 issues.

Mr. Mikuriya welcomed the commitment of the ICC to enhance its cooperation with the international Customs community in light of the fact that cooperation is one of the key components of the WCO’s Customs in the 21st Century strategic policy. He fully supported Mr. Rozwadowski’s proposal to encourage ICC members and Customs administrations to collaborate more and in a better way.

The Secretary General invited his ICC counterpart to participate in the International Customs Day celebrations that will take place in Brussels on 26 January 2010 with a theme dedicated to the Customs-Business partnership.

Mr. Mikuriya was pleased with the spirit of the dialogue and the good will which characterized the meeting.
