Directors General of Customs of Portuguese-speaking countries meet in Brazil

The Heads of Customs of the Portuguese-speaking countries (CPLP) held their XXXth Meeting in Brasilia (Brazil) from 3 to 6 November 2015.

The WCO Secretariat representative gave a presentation on the WCO’s support for implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), particularly through the Mercator Programme. Members provided an update on their current position regarding the TFA and its future implementation.

In the course of the meeting, the CPLP discussed and agreed on its programme of technical assistance and cooperation activities for the coming three years, and also considered the work accomplished over the past year through the various CPLP working groups, including on the Harmonized System and the Revised Kyoto Convention.

Among the other topics discussed during the meeting were the use of API/PNR data; relations between Customs and other stakeholders; the Kimberley Process; Single Window; Customs transit; and Authorized Economic Operators.

The participants expressed their appreciation to the Brazilian Administration for the organization of the meeting and the hospitality shown to them in Brasilia.
