Solidarity

16 November 2015

The WCO offers its sincere condolences to the victims and families of the recent terrorist attacks in France, Lebanon, Turkey, other countries, and of a Russian airliner. The violence and impact on people going about their daily lives is harrowing and tragic.

Terrorism continues to threaten the security and safety of people, as well as to economic development, political stability and social cohesion of countries in every region.

Customs officers around the world are actively involved in border security by managing the movement of goods, people and means of transport across borders, sharing intelligence, and working closely with other law enforcement agencies.

The WCO Security Programme concentrates on strengthening the capacity of Customs administrations to deal with security threats nationally and internationally by the use of its international standards and technical assistance programmes.

The WCO and its Member Customs administrations stand together as one in offering our solidarity, support, and commitment to provide any and all assistance in the days ahead.
