The WCO-EAC CREATe project, funded by Sweden, delivered a workshop on "Successful Stakeholder Consultations" in Kampala (Uganda) from 06th to 08th of June 2016. The workshop benefited 12 participants (including two women) senior and middle managers from the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA).
During this capacity building workshop, the participants were able to enhance their "stakeholder engagement" competencies through a blended approach (training, exercises, role plays...). The workshop notably focused on the planning, delivery and evaluation of consultative sessions and introduced the participants to among others: stakeholder mapping and chairing techniques. Both URA and RRA have also expressed their wish to have this workshop replicated at the national level for their regional supervisors/managers and middle managers to ensure that their Administrations have a critical mass of managers that are able to effectively engage with stakeholders to solve strategic and operational issues.
By the end of the workshop, URA and RRA officers have committed to apply their new competencies to establish and launch their national AEO Working Group by the end of October 2016. These national AEO Working Groups will provide the ideal platform to also discuss the implementation of the EAC Regional AEO programme.
