On 25 November, the WCO hosted a delegation from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) which was headed by Vice Minister Hu, who is in charge of Anti-Corruption initiatives within Customs. The delegation was composed of eight persons, including the Director General of the International Cooperation Department and the Deputy Director General of the Integrity Department.

From 13 to 24 November, WCO training experts and a specialist from Jordan Customs conducted the first Theoretical Training in the Sultanate of Oman, which recently joined the UNODC-WCO Container Control Programme (CCP). Oman is the first country of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to implement this programme.

The APEC Ministers issued a Joint Ministerial Statement covering APEC initiatives in the field of Customs procedures and trade facilitation, including the implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), Customs control over cross-border e-commerce, integration of the regional economy, simplification of documents and procedures, and transparency.

A National Workshop on the HS 2017 amendments and Tariff Classification was held in Lima, Peru, from 26 to 28 October 2016. The Workshop was organized jointly by the WCO and the Customs Administration of Peru (SUNAT) and was co-facilitated by Mr. Guillermo Quiroz Flores, a newly WCO Accredited HS trainer from Mexico Customs. It was attended by 35 officials from local units and the Headquarters working on tariff classification related areas.

In cooperation with the OECD’s Public Governance and Territorial Development Directorate, the WCO co-organized and hosted the WCO-OECD Regional Policy Dialogue on countering illicit trade: addressing governance gaps in Europe in Brussels on 7-8 November 2016. This meeting was organized under the auspices of the OECD Task Force on Countering Illicit Trade (TFCIT) under the High Level Risk Forum. This event featured a multi-stakeholder platform for policy oriented research on illicit trade, building on the Task Force expertise as well as on past Regional Policy Dialogues such as the one that took place in Veracruz, Mexico, in 2014.
