04 October 2017

Under the auspices of the WCOs Mercator Programme, a technical workshop was delivered for  the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) on the 4th to 8th September 2017 at its Training Academy in Harare. The objective of this workshop was to integrate WCO e-learning modules part of a blended training approach included in ZIMRA’s training programmes.

Besides installing and setting-up the e-Learning platform, the workshop also included a train-the-trainers session to introduce the new training tool as well as the blended approach covering both e-learning material and face to face sessions, to local Customs experts and facilitators Moreover, ZIMRA’s existing Training Strategy, Policy and Competency framework were reviewed to ensure alignment with the WCO Customs Competency-Based Training Guidelines.

As a result of this workshop, but also thanks to the dedication from the training team and support from its management, ZIMRA is now ready to move forward using WCO e-Learning modules in a blended training approach. It is expected that the programme will be launched by end of 2017 and that this approach will be extended for other programmes provided by the academy.

This workshop was delivered in the framework of the HMRC-WCO-UNCTAD TFA Capacity Building Programme with the generous financial support of the Government of the United Kingdom through Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
