Under the auspices of the WCO-WACAM Project financed by Sweden, Burkina Faso Customs (BFC) benefitted from a training in project management which took place from 15 to 19 January 2018 in Ouagadougou. At this occasion, the WCO had the opportunity to pilot in French its state-of-the-art training material in project management developed in the framework of the WCO-WACAM Project.
The training enabled 17 high-level participants, including three women, to enhance their capacities in project management to design, implement, monitor and evaluate modernization and reform projects within their administration. The workshop, which targeted senior management at BFC, focused on main PM issues, including the organizational project management framework, the governance framework, as well as the cycle of the project. The workshop was highly interactive, and was based on a mixed learning method, through the use of presentations, case studies conducted in groups on specific customs-related issues.
In this opening speech, the Director General of the Burkina Faso Customs, Mr. Adama Sawadogo, highlighted the importance of this workshop and declared that this training “came at exactly the right time, because after having adopted the Strategic Plan, the main challenge now resides in its implementation, namely in the management of its related projects”.
This training will enable the Burkina Faso Customs to develop its own project management methodology and to integrate it into its organizational procedures in order to successfully implement its ongoing reforms.
