WCO participates in World Economic Forum’s 48th Annual meeting in Davos

At the invitation of the World Economic Forum, WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya participated in the 48th Annual Meeting held in Davos from 23 to 26 January 2018 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, where he met global leaders, explained the role of Customs and contributed to various sessions.

Secretary General Mikuriya spoke to trade ministers and business leaders about WCO’s initiative on cross-border movement of goods associated with E-Commerce. He emphasized the revenue and security concerns, and stressed Customs community’s willingness to facilitate legitimate trade while focusing on the benefit of micro, small and medium sized enterprises as well as consumers.

Dr. Mikuriya contributed to numerous sessions and participated in bilateral meetings with ministers, heads of governments and international organizations, thus ensuring that the profile of Customs was raised among the world leaders.

The high-level participants appreciated WCO's contribution to the sessions and its collaboration through a range of initiatives.
