Today, the WCO published the 2018 edition of the SAFE Framework of Standards, following its adoption by the Council - the Organization's highest decision-making body - at the end of June 2018. The Framework provides baseline international standards to secure and facilitate global trade. It is updated every three years to ensure that it remains relevant and reflects new opportunities, challenges and associated solutions.

The WCO, with the support of the Asia/Pacific Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB A/P), the Japanese Customs Cooperation Fund (CCF Japan) and Indian Customs, organized a High-Level ‘Regional Seminar on the Cross-Border E-Commerce Framework of Standards’ for the Asia/Pacific (A/P) Region on 16 and 17 July 2018 in New Delhi, India. This was the first event organized for the launching of the Framework of Standards on Cross-Border E-Commerce after its adoption by the WCO Council last month.

A WCO Revenue Package national Workshop on the development of an advance ruling system for classification, funded by CCF Korea, was held in Paro, Bhutan, from 2 to 6 July 2018. Twenty five Customs officials worked intensively during the Workshop, which was facilitated by one expert from the WCO Secretariat and one accredited expert from Thai Customs.

The 8th edition of the WCO knowledge Academy got underway on Monday 2 July 2018 at WCO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, with over 180 participants taking part in a one-week intensive training course targeting Customs and trade professionals.
