Gambia Revenue Authority Successfully Develops its Project Management Methodology

06 June 2018

Under the auspices of the WCO-WACAM Project financed by Sweden, a capacity building session was held from 28 May to 01 June 2018 at the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) Headquarters in Banjul to develop a project management methodology.

As a result of the session, and under the guidance of WCO experts and the Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB), a complete first version of the project management methodology was produced to serve as a guide for the implementation of GRA reform and modernization projects. The development of this key document follows the training of GRA staff on project management which took place in the framework of the WCO-WACAM Project in February 2018.

The document, which will be officially approved by GRA top management no later than September 2018, aims at supporting good management practices and effective decision making throughout the project management cycle – identification, formulation, implementation and monitoring, and evaluation and closing. The methodology will enable GRA to improve its organizational project management (OPM) framework.

As a follow-up to the official adoption of the methodology, the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) will then train its staff on the methodology and take necessary steps to ensure the methodology is embedded into GRA working practices.
