Chile enhances its AEO Programme

The World Customs Organization (WCO) provided technical assistance to Chilean Customs to implement and improve its AEO programme from 1 to 4 April, 2019.

During a 4-day mission, the WCO expert assisted with carrying out an assessment of the current Chilean AEO programme and shared knowledge and best practices with respect to improving validation process for enhancing the effectiveness of the AEO programme. The expert further helped Customs with the development of training activities regarding AEO implementation, involving the private sector and other government agencies representatives.

The mission covered two locations : Santiago and Valparaiso, where Customs officers dealing with policy and operational matters were also trained.

The mission dealt with other AEO-related topics such as MRA implementation, the participation of other Government agencies in the AEO programme, the development of key performance indicators, and effective risk analysis of AEOs.

Chilean Customs has implemented its AEO programme in 2018, and has now nine AEO certified companies and one plurilateral MRA with Pacific Alliance members.
