CEN Training at RILO WE Office for NCP from Malta Customs

28 February 2019

In February 2019, RILO WE (Western Europe) welcomed their National Contact Point (NCP) Mario Briffa from Malta Customs for a two-day CEN training in the office in Cologne/Germany. One of the main goals of the training was to improve the data input (manual or bulk upload). To make the training more efficient, current seizure cases from Malta Customs were used. Another goal was to learn how to download CEN data to Microsoft Excel for analysis to identify new risks and trends. This feature can be an auxiliary tool for various sections at Malta Customs, to use CEN as an information source for their daily work. The participants discussed the need to upload X-ray images of reported seizures, which can be used by all CEN users as examples to identify suspicious objects.

Both sides were delighted with this opportunity, enriching their knowledge of each other’s work and needs. They believe that this will yield further positive results in cooperation and exchange of information between Customs entities.
