Sub - regional Train-the Trainer Workshop on Customs Valuation for ASEAN Members

The World Customs Organization organized, with the support of the Customs Cooperation Fund of Japan, and in collaboration with Thai Customs and the Regional Office for Capacity Building of the Asia Pacific Region, a sub-regional Train-theTrainer Workshop on Customs Valuation for the benefit of ASEAN Members.  The workshop was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 20 to 24 January 2020.  Eighteen participants including Customs officials and observers from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and the ROCB attended the workshop.  The workshop was facilitated by experts from the WCO Secretariat and Japan.

In her opening remarks, the Director of Human Resources of Thai Customs underscored the important role of Customs in the collection of revenue and in international trade and thanked CCF Japan in supporting this workshop. 

During this workshop the participants strengthened their domain knowledge on Customs valuation as well as training skills to enable the delivery of training at national level.  The participants familiarized themselves with the valuation methods of the WTO Customs Valuation Agreement and had the opportunity to prepare and deliver individually and in groups selected topics during the workshop.

Participants were encouraged to take appropriate follow-up actions, including the dissemination of lessons learnt from this sub-regional workshop to colleagues in their home administrations.
