Serbia is the fifth fully-fledged beneficiary country of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP). The Customs Administration of Serbia welcomed the GTFP Programme Management Team during virtual sessions from 13th to 15th October, to endorse the programme and discuss its participation moving forward.
The Ministry of Finance and Customs Administration of Serbia, expressed their commitment to the WCO and GTFP and their appreciation for the support which, under the auspices of the WCO Mercator Programme, will contribute to strengthen the organizational and technical capacities of the Serbian Customs Administration, to successfully lead, plan and implement sustainable and transparent Customs reforms, together with relevant stakeholders, through the application of WCO instruments and tools and international best practices and standards.
Additionally, an assessment will follow this year to identify the main operational needs and draft a joint work plan comprising trade facilitation and organizational development activities to be implemented over the next two years. This will significantly support the implementation of the strategic goals and priorities of the Customs Administration of Serbia.
The GTFP Team also met with other national agencies and private sector associations, including the Ministries of Finance; Economy; Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications; Agriculture; Interior; Health, and Culture and Information, as well as the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency of Serbia.
