With the aim of exchanging best practices and motivating Customs Administrations to promote ethics through WCO tools, the Webinar "Ethics and Transparency - A Commitment for All" was organized by the Private Sector Consultative Group and the WCO Regional Vice-Chair for the Americas and the Caribbean.
The opening ceremony was led by WCO Deputy Secretary General, Ricardo Treviño Chapa, Intendant of Customs of Guatemala and WCO Regional Vice Chair for the Americas and the Caribbean, Werner Ovalle Ramírez, and the President of the Regional Private Sector Group, Alfonso Rojas.
The event was attended by more than 200 representatives from 23 countries of the Americas and the Caribbean, who heard presentations on the importance of public-private cooperation in promoting ethics and integrity from the WCO's perspective, including snapshots of how the WCO Anti-Corruption and Integrity Promotion (A-CIP) Programme is supporting this within the region. In addition, participants heard about the importance of promoting ethics from the private sector's perspective and a panel on the experiences of Customs and the Private Sector in Guatemala, Uruguay, Jamaica and Mexico.
