WCO A-CIP Programme Integrity Learning Event gathered more than 250 participants

02 December 2022

Developed by the WCO A-CPI Programme, the Integrity Learning Event is an eight-week tutored e-learning event on CLiKC! aiming at fostering ownership of the WCO Integrity e-learning module’s content that was developed with funding from Norad to facilitate the implementation of the Revised Arusha Declaration within Customs administrations.

From 4 October to 28 November, over 250 participants from Customs administrations of Antigua and Barbuda, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Jordan, Liberia, Malawi, Mexico, Nepal, Palestine, Sierra Leone and Tanzania took part in a series of 24 online activities, over an eight-week period, in English or Spanish.

The learning event aimed at providing a platform for exploring strategies related to the promotion of integrity. Participants focused on building change capacity and creating a collective wealth of knowledge through sharing views, perspectives, opinions and best practices. Topics such as the ten key factors of the WCO Revised Arusha Declaration, simplification and appeal procedures, discretionary power, automation, training and rotation matters in the integrity context  were largely tackled, while participants got more familiar with WCO Integrity tools and instruments overall.

This Integrity Learning Event, held in Spanish and English, is a continuation of an initiative launched in 2021 with six francophone WCO A-CIP Programme partner countries, which was attended then by 130 Customs officials. Altogether, the three events generated 12,700 posts, consisting of perspectives and best practices related to integrity in Customs.

The WCO was pleased to work with a group of Customs officials committed to building on their knowledge and know-how and ready to be ‘’integrity champions’’ within their administration.

The WCO A-CIP Programme currently supports over 20 countries in five of the six WCO regions, with funding from Norad and Canada. For more information, please contact capacity.building@wcoomd.org.
