GTFP fosters cooperation among the Customs Administrations of Colombia and Mexico

03 June 2022

From 24 to 27 May 2022, the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP), organized a study visit for the Customs Administration of Colombia (DIAN, for its Spanish acronym) to the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM, for its Spanish acronym), aiming to foster cooperation and exchange of experiences and good practices on risk management.

This study visit was conducted using a blended approach, a virtual initial phase that took place in 2021, and an in country mission which provided both delegations the opportunity to expand their previous exchanges and discuss mutual challenges that their Customs Administrations face and their potential solutions. In addition, DIAN took note of other important practices regarding trade facilitation that will support its newly created Deputy Directorate for Trade Facilitation and Services.

The main takeaways of this visit will assist DIAN in the strengthening of its Customs Risk Management Coordination Unit and the development of their Risk Management Integral Model as part of its modernization and transformation process.
