From 28 to 30 March 2023, within the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP) framework, the WCO delivered a sub-regional workshop on Risk Management (RM) at the Andean Community Headquarters in Lima, Peru, with the participation of risk management experts from the Customs Administrations of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

This Sub-regional workshop on risk management (RM) aimed at identifying clear actions that enhance cooperation and information exchange on intelligence and risk management among the Customs Administrations of the Andean Community.

During the three-day workshop, the WCO experts worked with seasoned officials on RM on a series of group exercises, which ultimately helped them develop a map of the main risks in the region and craft a cooperation instrument in the matter.

The mission and its tangible results have enhanced the cooperation network among the Andean Community as a region, laying the basis for a Regional RM Expert Group, which will be presented to the Directors General of the four Customs Administrations in the coming days. The World Customs Organization and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) thank the Andean Community for its support, collaborative approach, and hospitality.
