The World Customs Organization (WCO) conducted a national workshop on Post Clearance Audit (PCA) from 26 to 30 August 2024 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to support the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) on its relentless journey of harnessing and implementing PCA for trade facilitation. This capacity-building intervention is part of ongoing assistance to the TRA under the aegis of the Programme on Trade Facilitation and Customs Modernization for Sustainable Development in Sub-Saharan Africa” (Sida-WCO TFCM Programme) support, funded by the Government of Sweden.
Opening the national workshop, attended by the TRA Manager of Post Clearance Audit and several officials from the Trade Facilitation Section, the Deputy Commissioner Compliance and Enforcement, Customs Department, Juliet Nyomolelo, expressed gratitude to the WCO and Sida for their support in organizing the workshop, which is crucial for Tanzania’s trade facilitation drive.
During the workshop, facilitated by two WCO experts from the Customs administration of Maldives and the Kenya Revenue Authority, the highly interactive and enthusiastic participants provided new insights and advancements in PCA, thus contributing to significant competency-building within the PCA team and identifying and recognizing further challenges of the TRA PCA framework. The workshop was facilitated using case studies and role-plays and sharing individual expertise in targeting and analysis.
