National Workshop on Time Release Study (TRS) in Uzbekistan - SECO-WCO GTFP Phase II

03 July 2025

Activities under the full-fledged support programme for Uzbekistan, implemented through the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP), are progressing steadily. A key milestone was the successful delivery of a technical workshop in Tashkent from 26 to 30 May 2025, focusing on the Time Release Study (TRS).

The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacities of relevant stakeholders, review the TRS action plan, and initiate the development of the first drafts of the business process and questionnaires. These efforts complement the ongoing regional TRS initiative, leveraging the expertise of trained Customs officials and building on progress already made in action plan development.

Participants included representatives from Uzbekistan’s Customs administration, the private sector, and other government agencies. Discussions centred on identifying bottlenecks in cargo processing, enhancing Public-Private Partnerships for Trade Facilitation, streamlining clearance procedures, and ultimately reducing the time and cost of trade.

The WCO remains committed to supporting Uzbekistan in the implementation of the TRS, including further refinement of business process mapping and continuous review of the action plan.
