Moldova - SECO-WCO GTFP Phase II: Virtual Session on Consultations with the Private Sector

06 October 2025

The assistance activities under Phase II of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP)  in Moldova are ongoing, with the most recent being a virtual session on consultations with the private sector, held on 23 September 2025 . The session focused on strengthening the capacity of the Customs Service of Moldova (CSM) and provided targeted guidance to design, enhance, and monitor an effective Customs–Business partnership.

The virtual session strengthened capacities on Customs-business partnership in line with the WCO Revised Kyoto Convention and the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), while enhancing WCO’s understanding of Moldova’s practices related to TFA Article 2.2 on consultations. Participants, from both the private sector and the Customs Authorities, agreed that key challenges lie in establishing monitoring and follow-up mechanisms.

The WCO will continue to support Moldova in building capacities for enhancing the Customs–Business partnership. The next steps include an in-country mission on Customs–Business Partnership, the development of a Customs–Business Enhancement Plan, as well as the organization of a workshop aiming to optimize the formal arrangements of Moldova’s Customs–Business Council
