Following the success of the Top Executive Retreat and Leadership and Management Development workshop in 2016, the Nigerian Customs Services (NCS) requested its second LMD in two years bringing the total to 49 senior managers who have participated in the WCO’s leadership capacity development program.

In the first two months of 2016, Brazilian Customs has seized 234 kg of drugs valued at a total of R$ 80 million (20 million USD) at Guarulhos Airport Customs in São Paulo. The first seizure occurred on 28 and 29 January 2016 and was followed by seizures on 3, 19, and 22 February 2016.

Royal Malaysian Customs seized 2,342 pieces of elephant ivory weighing a staggering six tonnes concealed in two containers with wood shipped from Lomé, Togo. The two containers, declared to contain “wooden floor tiles”, were detained on 7 December 2012 at Port Klang, Malaysia.

Operation COCAIR VI took place from 9 to 17 December 2017, bringing together the enforcement services of airports in some thirty countries in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East. The main objective of the Operation was to intercept illicit consignments of cocaine by air from South America bound to Europe, either directly or via transit zones in Africa.
