In 2016, the World Customs Organization (WCO) started exploring the topic of fragile borders in the regions affected by conflict and instability. Since then, more than two dozen field missions to the MENA and WCA regions were conducted by the WCO experts and a number of academic papers were published. In preparation of the forthcoming publication by the WCO on customs security strategies and practices in fragile borders, the WCO is delighted to invite you to the webinar on Fragility and Customs Security Strategies in the MENA region and beyond.

You will hear the perspectives from the Customs administrations in the MENA and WCA regions as well as from academia on policy implications of border security as well as some practical arrangements on the ground that include institutional setup of inter-agency security cooperation, joint trainings and patrols and use of technology.

The webinar will take place online on Zoom platform. Simultaneous English-French interpretation will be provided at the event.
