From 15th to 19th of July 2013, a team of WCO experts provided tailor-made CapacityBuilding support to the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) in the field of Human Resource Management (HRM) under the WACAM project, which is funded by the Swedish International Development cooperation Agency (Sida).
The WCO expert team supported the GRA HRM unit with the drafting of the GRA HRM strategy as well as in the specific areas of staff planning and recruitment. At the end of the mission, the GRA HRM unit was able to present an initial draft of the HRM strategy to the GRA Top Management while the WCO expert team presented the work plan for the remaining support to be provided to the GRA under the WCO WACAM project. The Commissioner General of GRA and his Deputy Commissioner General highlighted the critical importance of modernizing Human Resource Management in view of achieving the GRA’s mission objectives. They concluded the mission by praising the work produced by the GRA HRM unit during the mission and by thanking the WCO for its continued support.
Based on this positive experience in Banjul, the WACAM Project is now looking forward to the delivery of its next national support missions in the field of HRM in Western Africa in 2013 and beyond.
