Mr. Nak-Hoe Kim, Commissioner of Korea Customs Service, and Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, Secretary General of the WCO, concluded a Cooperation Agreement under the auspices of the Korean Customs Cooperation Fund in Seoul, Korea on 8 October 2014. The Agreement foresees new opportunities for management-level Customs officers to receive short-term, high-level training on Customs policy-related topics.
Commissioner Kim expressed his willingness to share Korea’s experiences and best practices, given that the Korean economy has thrived through global trade supported by efficient border procedures. He also declared his commitment to enhancing Korea’s financial and human resource contributions to the WCO.
Secretary General Mikuriya welcomed the offer of a new programme and Korea’s assistance to WCO Members in implementing WCO standards.
Both parties agreed to work closely for the progress of the global Customs community.
