A Regional Seminar on preparations for implementation of the Harmonized System (HS) Nomenclature 2017 Edition was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 19 to 22 April 2015. It brought together representatives from most of the MENA Region Customs administrations. In addition to a general presentation of the HS, the Seminar was aimed at providing participants with the main tools available required for implementation of the HS 2017 in national nomenclatures.
The Seminar provided an opportunity to give an overview of the amendments to be implemented on 1 January 2017 and enabled some administrations to present examples of the transposition into their national nomenclature of particular amendments featured in the Council Recommendation of 27 June 2014.
Lastly, this event allowed for a brief update on the WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation (TFA) and the harmonized Technical Guidelines on Advance Rulings for Tariff Classification, Valuation and Origin.
