The Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Dr. Kunio Mikuriya, and the Secretary General of FIDI Aisbl, Mr. Jesse van Sas, signed on 20 December 2017 a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the WCO Headquarters in Brussels to enhance cooperation to achieve mutual benefits, including a balance between security and facilitation.

Operation COCAIR VI took place from 9 to 17 December 2017, bringing together the enforcement services of airports in some thirty countries in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East. The main objective of the Operation was to intercept illicit consignments of cocaine by air from South America bound to Europe, either directly or via transit zones in Africa.

On 14 December 2017 during the WCO Council session, the Ambassador of the Republic of the Congo to the Benelux countries and the European Union, His Excellency Léon Raphaël Mokoko, deposited his country’s instrument of accession to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures (Revised Kyoto Convention). He was accompanied at the ceremony by the Director General of Customs of the Republic of the Congo, Mr. Jean-Alfred Onanga.
