29 octubre 2018

Upon request of Jordan Customs, a WCO support mission was conducted from 21 to 25 October 2018 in Amman to assist the Administration in building Project Management (PM) capacity taking due account of the WCO PM framework, as well as modern strategic planning methods. The mission was conducted with the financial support from CCF Korea.

The workshop provided an opportunity to familiarize participants with the methodologies and benefits of effective PM and the development of appropriate PM documents and tools. It offered also the occasion to provide advice and guidance on how to use communications techniques to get the cooperation, support, and resources that are vital to the project's success.

During the five day workshop, discussions focused on the need to create a PM framework to better implement strategic projects to satisfy the requirements of modern Customs in the 21st Century. Particular attention was paid to results-based management to deliver customs modernization projects more effectively. The mission also touched upon the role and responsibilities of PM structures including the PMO. Group discussions covered principles of planning, implementing reporting, monitoring, and evaluation, and risk management.

Overall, the workshop was successful in delivering PM methodology, processes and a draft PM framework.
