As one of the initial beneficiaries of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP), the Customs Administration (CA) of Uzbekistan, State Customs Committee, welcomed the GTFP Programme Management Team on 13th November in Tashkent to endorse the programme and discuss its participation moving forward.
The support of the GTFP follows the ever increasing cooperation between the State Customs Committee and the WCO and aims at supporting the positive actions taken by this Administration to increase the efficiency of customs. This cooperation will advance the capabilities of customs authorities through workshops and guidance on strategic planning, project management, leadership and management development.
Additionally, the simplification of Customs procedures and trade facilitation in line with international standards and best practices will add to the significant steps taken by Uzbekistan to transform and modernize its trade infrastructure and support the implementation of the strategic goals and priorities of the CA of Uzbekistan.
A scoping mission will follow in the beginning of next year to identify the main operational needs and draft a joint work plan comprising trade facilitation and organizational development activities to be implemented over the next three years.
