In 2019 the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia (SRC RA) received support from the WCO in implementing the Articles of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) by conducting a Mercator TFA diagnostic assessment support mission.
During 10th to 14th of February 2020, the WCO supported SRC RA in their overall commitment to reform and modernize their administration to meet international Customs standards by assisting them to develop a Mercator Implementation Plan.
The Implementation Plan focuses on key areas such as Advance Rulings, Penalties, Fees, Charges, Pre-Arrival Processing, Risk Management, AEO, Release Times, Expedited Shipments, International Standards, Single Window, Transit and National Committee on Trade Facilitation.
It is anticipated that the Implementation Plan will form the basis for future WCO capacity building input and provide a good opportunity for the Customs administration to engage with key trade facilitation stakeholders to determine future WCO-led Mercator Programme activities to take place.
