03 febrero 2021

On 28 January 2021, the World Customs Organization (WCO) and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), working in close collaboration with the United States (U.S) Department of State and the U.S Customs and Border Protection (CBP), concluded an agreement to deploy the WCO Cargo Targeting System (WCO CTS) in Ghana. The GRA, represented at the virtual signing ceremony by Col. Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd.), Commissioner of Customs, , becomes the 20th Customs administration to adopt the WCO CTS as a key component of their risk management strategy.

WCO Secretary General Dr. Kunio Mikuriya, said “I am very pleased that Ghana Customs has decided to use the WCO CTS and I am confident it will significantly enhance their cargo risk assessment and targeting capability.” Dr. Mikuriya also expressed his thanks to the US Department of State and US CBP for their support in achieving this important milestone and added that “WCO Members increasingly choose to adopt the WCO CTS and I look forward to Ghana Customs being another success story for others to follow.”

The WCO CTS is a cargo manifest risk assessment and targeting solution developed by the WCO for Customs administrations across the globe. It allows those adopting the solution to implement international best practice in the area of cargo risk assessment and targeting, including the key pillars of the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards to secure and facilitate global trade.
