On 29 December 2020, Mr. Guénolé MBONGO KOUMOU, Director General of Customs of the Republic of Congo and Vice-chair of the WCA region of the World Customs Organization (WCO), in collaboration with the WCO Secretariat, organized an extraordinary conference for the Directors General of Customs of the region.
This virtual conference attended by 20 of the 23 Customs Administrations in the region, appointed by consensus Mr. Abdel Kader SANGHO, Principal Inspector of Mali Customs as Director of the ROCB in Abidjan. Thus Mr. SANGHO, accredited by the WCO as Customs Modernization Advisor (CMA) and Mercator Program Advisor (MPA), will succeed Mr. Ebenezer TAFILI who is leaving this function to become Deputy Director Capacity Building at the WCO Secretariat.
It also made it possible to confirm the Members and the mandate of the WCA Region’s Finance Committee and the Audit Committee but also to initiate the annual budgeting of the regional structure’s activities, financed by contributions from WCA Customs to the Regional Fund.
Finally, it provided the WCO Secretariat with the opportunity to present the theme of the International Customs Day celebrated on 26 January 2021 (Customs bolstering Recovery, Renewal and Resilience for a sustainable supply chain) and the link of this theme with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
