A follow-up remote technical assistance workshop on Risk Management (RM) for the Customs Administration of Bolivia (AN), organized within the framework of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP) and under the auspices of the WCO Mercator Programme, took place from 23-26 February 2021.
The main purpose of this mission was to pursue the efforts initiated in May 2020, with the objective of developing a RM strategy based on the WCO Risk Management Compendium aligned with the strategic objectives of the AN. This mission also aimed at supporting the Bolivian Customs in the improvement of its RM functions.
Main outcomes of this workshop included the development of a written Operational Risk Management strategy, based on the risks identified in the previous technical assistance carried out in 2020, as well as the implementation of the Risk Management Committee.
This four-day event is part of a wider aim to support the Bolivian Customs in enhancing trade facilitation, through creating conditions for a more efficient RM system and improving cooperation in border controls. In this perspective, the active participation of officers from the Bolivian Customs has allowed very fruitful and encouraging exchanges.
