From 28 November to 1 December 2022, within the framework of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP), the WCO carried out a Mercator follow-up mission for the Customs Administration of Bolivia (Aduana Nacional -AN).
This mission is part of the Programme’s work plan with Bolivia, one of the initial beneficiary countries for the SECO-WCO GTFP, and pointed at verifying progress made by the AN since the diagnostic back in July 2018 and the progress follow-up done in 2019.
During the mission, the WCO experts assessed the progress of compliance with the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Trade Facilitation (TFA), tracking significant advancements on topics such as risk management and advance rulings. For the successful completion of this mission, other border agencies and the private sector were involved as key stakeholders in the international trade chain. Based on the outcomes of active discussions, the WCO experts issued recommendations to ensure the sustainable implementation of trade facilitation measures.
The Customs Administration of Bolivia appreciated the recommendations as these will help their country enhance the services provided to the trading community and thanked the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the WCO for their continuous support of their national efforts towards implementing trade facilitation measures.
