From 30 January to 3 February 2023, the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP) facilitated a study visit of the Colombian Customs Administration (DIAN) to Brazil, focused on exchanging experiences and best practices with the Customs Administration of Brazil to complement the progress made by the DIAN within the framework of the GTFP, to strengthen their Customs operations and Risk Management and Post Clearance Audit procedures.
During this study tour, DIAN officials took stock of the Brazilian Customs experience on the implementation of advanced procedures to identify and control high-risk cargo through an intense agenda that included sessions at intelligence headquarters, air cargo and passenger profiling cargo processing and analysis at international airports. The DIAN also benefited from the Brazilian experience in profiling and scheduling post-clearance audits, including their remote PCAs practices.
The results of this successful mission enhanced the cooperation network among both Customs Administrations and enabled DIAN to learn from the experience of strategic partners in the region. The World Customs Organization expresses sincere gratitude to the Customs Administration of Brazil for its support, collaborative approach, and hospitality.
