16 junio 2023

From 4 to 8 June 2023, the World Customs Organization (WCO) delivered a follow-up Risk Management Workshop to the Jordan Customs Department (JCD) in Amman within the framework of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP). The mission aimed at leveraging the capabilities and efficiency of air cargo clearance procedures for the JCD to develop a national risk management plan applied to expedited shipments with detailed action steps for implementation.

The activity was attended by 18 customs officers from different offices and sections of the JCD, who, along with the WCO experts, transformed the previous WCO recommendations into tangible projects that would facilitate their implementation. The participants were guided through the experience of designing project plans, breaking down the recommendations into actionable steps, setting timelines, identifying project teams, vital partners and related projects, and determining deliverables. The strategic plan and objectives of the JCD were taken into consideration throughout this process, with each project aligned with one of the strategic objectives.

As a result of the workshop, the Risk Management enhancement plan was finalized under the guidance of the WCO experts. The JCD expressed appreciation for the outputs and acknowledged the efforts made during the activity. They recognized that implementing these projects would contribute to advancing risk management activities associated with expedited shipments.
