Young professionals from various African countries visited the WCO

February 22 – 24, 2010

A group of 17 young professionals from various African Customs authorities visited the WCO on Monday, 22 February and Wednesday, 24 February 2010. The study visit to the WCO was part of a one-year International Leadership Training on “Global Trade: New Challenges for Customs Policy and Customs Administration”. This programme is being offered and funded by InWEnt – Capacity Building International, Germany, in cooperation with Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (Münster University), the latter being a partner in the WCO’s PICARD programme.

The two-day visit to the WCO encompassed presentations, individual discussions with WCO experts, and the use of WCO’s research facilities. The programme gave the group an outstanding opportunity to deepen their knowledge and further their research to prepare for their thesis to obtain a Master in Customs Administration, Policy and Law. They also consulted with WCO staff on their transfer projects, a project enabling participants to translate their newly gained knowledge into a change tool for their institutions.
