NIGER
A World Trade Organization (WTO) trade facilitation workshop was held in Niamey from 22 to 26 March 2010, focusing on a self-assessment of Niger’s needs and priorities. Expert facilitators from UNCTAD and the World Customs Organization (WCO) assisted in running the workshop.
The workshop, preceded by essential work at the national level, ran smoothly bearing in mind the country’s specific circumstances. It made a large number of officials aware of challenges in the international trade domain and of actions to be carried out in Niger in order to comply with the principles laid down by the WTO.
A great many Customs issues were addressed and deliberated in detail. The discussions, both in groups and in the plenary sessions, deepened the knowledge of all the participants.
