Brussels, 13 June 2012
Press Release
The World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Demos Group are joining forces again to hold the second WCO Knowledge Academy for Customs and Trade in order to further secure and facilitate global trade, foster connectivity and promote economic competitiveness.
After its successful launch last year, the 2012 Knowledge Academy will take place from 2-13 July at WCO Headquarters in the centre of Brussels, Belgium with the aim of providing intense training for Customs officials and trade practitioners.
“The WCO is delighted to be partnering with the Demos Group to ensure the continuous spread of knowledge around the world,” said WCO Secretary General, Kunio Mikuriya. “This Knowledge Academy provides the ideal venue to master the challenges posed by global trade,” he added.
Key professional and technical experts from the private and government sectors, all widely respected in their various fields, will deliver top-class presentations on pertinent issues that impact on today’s international trading environment.
Participants will have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge, share experiences and network during master classes covering topics, such as the Harmonized System 2012, the WCO Data Model, Authorized Economic Operators (AEOs) and the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards.
More specifically, officials from the public sector will be able to familiarize themselves with the most recent information and developments on Risk Management and the WCO Revenue Package.
